DSL won't send e-mail

Question

My DSL will receive and I can surf the web, and I can fill out registrations like yours, and receive varification, but I can't send e-mails from Incredimail, outlook express6, or Modzilla thunderbird. Error message says 'authorization failed'....User name and password are correct in the accounts and the DSL and modem are configured correctly. I can only send e-mail if I disable the DSL and use my dial-up server. I have the inspiron 1100 with windows xp home,and xp2.My DSL is with Centurytel. Now the DSL won't send this message so I'm shifting to dial-up.

Thanks jmwills, my smtp is correct, I've been with the centurytel techs on the phone quite a bit. They think the problem may be in xp not authorizing the outgoing mail.
please advise...oh by the way I use panda titanium 2005 antivirus. I've disabled it and then tried to send and still couldn't.

More than likley the name of the SMTP server you are using is wrong.  If you can receive mail, the name of the POP3 server is correct.  Check with your DSL ISP for the correct one.
