DTC Error
When I shut down Windows 2000, I get an error message : IRQL_not_less_or_equal
***STOP : OX0000000A(OX000002DC,OX000000FF, OX00000000, OX895237F2).
The error code dates back to before I purchased the computer...

That error is commonly connected to a problem with a driver, video/graphics being near the top of the list. Have you recently installed something new that would coincide with the appearance of this stop error?
