dumb question about connecting to internet
i have previously only used my computer through wireless however now i am connecting to a braodband connection through a cable and this comes up each time
Connection through WAN miniport (PPPOE)
Error 815: the broadband network connection could not be established on your computer because the remote server is not responding. This could be cause by an invalid value for the ‘service name’ field for this connection. Please contact your internet service provider and inquire about the correct value for this field and update it in the connection properties
.... i seeked help and they told me to set everything to windows defaults again because apparently i must have my computer set up to connect to a DSL connection using PPPoE.
The connection isn't DSL and there's no PPPoE.
Not having much success

What type of connection do you have supplying that wireless router? How do you connect to the ISP's modem?
Quick second thought, you have a wireless router so just connect to it with a regular CAT 5 cable. Nothing else to do...no need to create a connection like you did.

Just go into Network Connections and create a new connection that does not use PPPoE. You can remove the PPPoE connection if you want, but it should not be necessary after you have created the new connection.
