go to control panel and switch to classic view, now scroll to the bottom row of icons, and click on mobility center, at mobility center upper right side click, turn wireless on.
Thanks. As I try to walk her through it over the phone, she says there is no Mobility Center icon in Control Panel. For Vista, does it go by another name? She can open Wireless, but it says no wireless adapter is installed.

courtsdad,
Did anyone by chance un-install QuickSet, which controls the hotkeys?
What does the device manager show?
