Emule slows up sufing speed...

Hi,

I have an ADSL connection which is downstream 600kb et upstream 100kb. WinXP with a Zyxel prestige external USB ADSL modem and it is configured as a Wan miniport PPPOE connection.

Here's the trouble. I have Emule and Ares on my comp and if i start one of the 2 programs, it is virtually impossible to surf with the program running. I think it is using up all bandwidth and it results in a very slow browsing speed. Sometimes, i get an error page for sites like dell.com and yahoo.com!! Surfing speed is lower than with a 56kmodem. And of course, emule or ares dont get download speeds of more than 30 kb all in all so cant say they are using all bandwidth.

Please suggest something to help.

Is there any software to actually see how the connection is being used..

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Reduce the UPLOAD speed that you allow emule to have. See http://www.emule-help.com/settings.htm, be sure you have Upload Limit checked and set to no more than 50% of your upload capacity.
