The way you describe the setup of your network is way too confusing.   Is the 2400 connected to another computer that is connected to a modem or is the 2400 connected to the modem and has ICS enabled so that another computer can connect to the internet using ICS through the 2400?   If it is the latter, and no other computer is currently connected to the second network adapter, then it will say that there is a network cable unplugged.   Please try to provide a better description of your setup so that we can help.

It is the latter, because i made the ics so that the ps2 can connect to the internet, but it remains unplugged

So, are you saying that the connection that should be between the PS2 and the computer is the one that says "Network Cable Unplugged"?  If so, then there are only a few possibilities.  The cable or its connectors are bad, or, the PS2 is not turned on, or, the network adapter in the PS2 is bad, or, you are using a regular ethernet cable instead of a cross-over cable.   Do the link lights near where you plug in the ethernet cables light up when both machines are powered on and connected by the cable?  Does wiggling the connector make either of the link lights up?  Has this ever worked before or is it a new problem?

Are you absolutely sure that you have a cross-over cable?  A regular network cable will not work.  You would make things much more simple if you just went out and bought a router.

I bought a router but i have a different problem that my cd drive does'nt load any cd's, nothing loads up and you cannot load it manually either, its as if i have not put a cd in in the first place, this was not the case before.

So what has this got to do with the topic of discussion in this thread?  Please only discuss one problem at a time in a given thread.  If you want help with the CD problem, post in the appropriate CD/DVD forum.

But are you sure that it is a working cross-over cable.  Did you buy it or make it yourself?

Just to be sure what should you have done to have a cross over connection

The best option is to purchase a network cable that is clearly labeled as a cross-over cable.  A regular network cable will not work.
