Ethernet Control Problems

Question

I have recently gotten DSL for my Inspiron1100. I have a ethernet card already in my laptop. But it says that my ethernet control is disabled. When I try fxing this problem, after putting the hardware cd in, it does nothing. I have also looked for updates but it tells me that here isn't any. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Go into your BIOS setup program and make sure that the integrated network adapter is enabled.   Steve

Hi the F2 key immediately after you restart your computer to get into the BIOS setup program.   Steve

Does the ethernet network adapter show up in Device Manager when you expand the listing for Network Adapters?   Steve

Yes, it does but it's yellow with a question mark.

On a computer with an internet connection, download the drivers for your network adapter from thje following site:   http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R61603&SystemID=INS_PNT_CEL_1100&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2966&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=2&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=78207   Copy the downloaded file to removal media then copy it to the hard drive on your Inspiron 1100.  Run the file from there to install the drivers.   Steve
