Ethernet Controller 10/100 M

Question

I keep having a problem where Windows XP does not recognize the driver for this NIC. Sometimes it does, sometime it doesn't. I'm getting the latest driver from this site. I've even gone to the trouble of physically removing the NIC, then re-installing it. It worked once for awhile, then went back to a yellow ? in device manager (code 10)   This is on a Dell Dimension 4500, bios A01. (would have updated the BIOS, but this site doesn't describe what version it offers, or atleast I couldn't tell.   TIA :smileymad:

After removing the NIC, restart the computer in Safe Mode and remove ALL references to the NIC driver in Device Manager. If you have attempted to install the driver several times, clearing out the "ghosts" in Device Manager may let you install it successfully.
