shojin,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

This may be basic, but have you attempted to reload the network drivers on your system?  You may obtain a current copy of the driver from the following:

Also if we knew what notebook you have it would help us.

I have an Inspiron 8500 Notebook Computer

I've tried to look for the correct drivers to reinstall my Network but am confused. When I allow the Dell site's System Profiler to analyze my computer it says my Network Card is:

Adapters WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface

I am unable to find drivers in this name under any listing.

Here is a screen shot of my device manager if it helps:

Try as I will I just cannot find the driver for the 'ethernet controller'. I've spent allot of time on it and have thourally combed this website and the utility/drivers discs my computer came with. I am unable to find a company or manufacturers name so I can't go that rout.

Thank you for your time...

-Marc

First make sure you have all the Windows Updates from the Microsoft site, especially SP1.  All WinXP drivers for the 8500.  The NIC driver you seek.  If after loading the Broadcom driver it still balks, then use the link below in my sig area to get the Broadcom driver directly from Broadcom.
