I am having the exact same issue, in fact that's why I'm here. Did you ever get this resolved?

I came to this forum hoping to find an answer to my ethernet driver problem.  I not only found it, also found out I had to install the chipset after a re-install.  Not only did I find the proper network driver and chipset, I actually installed everything and now my DSL is up and running perfectly.  I just wanted to say,"Thank You", to everyone who contribute to these forums and for Dell having the downloads.

will that driver work for a dimension 8400 too?

I went to the Dell downloads and drivers area, put my computer information in the search box and got the ethernet driver (network drivers) for my system there.  Before you download anything make sure you click the link to view the compatibility for your system first.  Hope this helps. :smileyvery-happy:

Hi

How did you check the compatibility to your system.  Need to install the ethernet controller driver.

Thanks

There is a link in the driver section that opens a window and your system should be listed there, if it is compatible.

Good luck

Dell - Search - Home & Home Office  in case the link doesn't work:

If you will notice at the bottom of the driver section, in blue it states:

Verify Operating System and Product Compatibility, a window opens and your system is listed as compatible.... good luck..
