Ethernet Controller/Driver

HELP.....................................................!

I am having problems reinstalling Windows XP, particularly accessing the internet. This procedure I have performed a number of times without having this issue; on this occasion there is an error message about the ethernet controller.  The following are the details of my XPS710.....

Service Tag
Express Service Code
Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
Processor Speed 1.56 GHz
Memory (RAM) 512 MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Operating System Version

The device ID is;

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1677&SUBSYS_02071028&REV_21\4&3601BAE0&0&0028

Does anyone know where I can locate the file for this device?

Cheers,

Jeff Garner

Jeff,

Please edit your information by removing your service tag number and express code number(s) as they contain personal information and this thread can be deleted. Install the drivers in the right order and the drivers will install.

The Desktop/Notebook Utility needs to be installed first(if applicable), then the chipset drivers. If they are NOT installed first, then the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

Since the operating system was re-installed did you remember to go to drivers and downloads, enter your service tag(DO NOT POST SERVICE TAG here or your post will get deleted, since it contains your personal information), and install these drivers in this order.

:emotion-55: Hint :emotion-55: When downloading the drivers, make a folder for each drivers and name it with the device it belongs with to make it easier to install them in the proper order.

Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software(if applicable)
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card

QuickSet(Laptop only)

Jeff,

GREAT JOB! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back. Glad you got it working. For future issues, I have burned these drivers to my owm DVD, so I have them in case I need to do this again. The desktop/notebook Utility(if applicable) then the chipset drivers need to be installed. After that you can do the drivers in any order. Just check the device manager and make sure there are no yellow exclaimination marks or red x's

Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager)

Take care,

Rick
