Ethernet Now.....
I have an Inspiron 5100, Windows XP. And I've had two bad motherboards in a week sent from Dell. I am about to sound like a raving lunatic....
First problem was the wireless card. It was getting intermittent signal. So I call. Dell sends a new wireless card and decides to throw in a new motherboard for good measure. I don't know why.
Then they sent a repairman who didn’t put silicone on the processor, so it overheats and crashes my computer every time it starts. So I called and complained a second time. The manager came out and fixed that.
BUT then I find out that the ethernet port then doesn’t connect with the motherboard. The device manager reads that it is "disconnected" and we can't figure out how to connect it. It was working fine with the first motherboard that didn’t need to be replaced, I had to use it because the wireless wasn't working.
Does anyone know how to connect the ethernet connection? Because they don't. I asked them what to do, and that's when I got "back up your hard drive and reinstall Windows"........HUH??
So I called a Third time - and dell sends out ANOTHER motherboard, tech comes out. It wouldn’t even power up. So he put back the one with the bum ethernet port. But don't you know, that's MY fault??
The fourth time I called - They tried to tell me that because I have "such problems" with my computer - that *I* have the problem! Even though they sent two bad motherboards!!! The quality control - and the way they treat people, including their own techs - makes a person want to buy another brand when she needs a new computer (especially because they can't seem to find a working motherboard to send her)....
