Ethernet pins are broken

I broke some of the ethernet pins in my inspiron 8600 laptop
Can i change ethernet socket without changing the motherboard???
if so how?
Ethernet is integrated with the motherboard, right???

it's probably possible to repair (especially for a repair shop) but the easiest way to go might be to get a USB2 to ethernet adapter or get an ethernet pc-card.

dell won't repair motherboards, only replace.  if you're under warranty, they might replace it for free.  otherwise, you're out a decent amount of money.

after 90 days I believe that the warranty says refurbs can be used.  there's not really a way for you to tell though.  if you're still under warranty, the replacement will be covered for the remainer of your warranty.  if not, I think it's 90 days.

it depends.  if they broke because of a defect then yes.  if they broke because of abuse then no.  unless you have "complete care" warranty, in which case damange you caused is also covered
