Ethernet port unresponsive

Question

So today the ethernet jack on my XPS M1530 running Vista home premium became totally unresponsive. When I connect it to the cable nothing happens and the indicator lights on the jack don't come on it wont even recognize that I have a cable plugged into it. I've tried network diagnostics and all that does is tell me to plug the cable in, I've tried multiple cables to make sure that wasn't the problem, reset the jack, and my router and still nothing happens. I've even checked the system setup menu to see if it somehow became disabled, but it hadn't. I'm pretty much out of ideas on how to fix this. Can anyone help?

I have the same problem, my ethernet cord is working fine because I have tried it on other computers, however when it is plugged into mine my computer does not recognize it and i continue to have no internet connection. I cannot do a "diagnosis" or "repair" option through my computer because it does not realize that anything is wrong! I have a Latitude D830 with a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller on Windows Vista. Please help!!!
