external hard drive enclosures

i have a latitude cpx-j and a dimension xps 400. i want to get an external usb hard drive to use with the both of them. while i am looking for a good price on a maxtor 500gb, i wonder to myself, can i use the travelstar 100gb hard drives in the latitude modules i have on hand as an interim measure. i have 3 100gb, 2 60gb, and 1 40gb i would like to use.

 

is there an external hard drive enclosure made that will take laptop hard drives so they can be used as a usb connectable external mass hard drive?
