External HD sharing on home network - possible?
I have a home network set up consisting of 3 computers .. Computer A, Computer B and Computer C. On all three computers I have set up various files for sharing and can do so without any problem no matter what computer I am on... NOW... I have added an external 320GB Hard Drive full of music and attached to Computer A using a USB connection. Although I have set the music files on it for sharing, none of the other computers (B and C) are able to access the files. Any idea what I am doing wrong or is making an external drive attached to one computer not practical?

If you set up the folder on the external drive for sharing, it should work with no problem as the computer just reads it as any other drive.. i would double check to make sure your permissions (in the shareing properties) is set correctly.

I attempted to set the permissions for "Everyone".... The drive contains 298GB of music files... The computer has been setting the permissions for over 12 hours now.. Is this a normal time for this amount of data? When I attempt to close the permissions window, it says still setting permissions..
