Faulty wireless internet connection with battery only.

I just purchased a new Inspiron 6000 laptop centrino with Intel Pro/Wireless 2200.  My home wireless has worked fine for many years.

With my new laptop using the AC adapter the network works great.

However, using battery the connection switches on/off every 15 seconds and doesn't work right.  Navigating to a page takes long time and using an application connecting internet will often say re-connecting so they are issues.

I think it has to do with power managment and disabling the network card at times to maintain power efficiency.

Can someone explain what is causing this and a fix for this??
Thanks
Paul

Hi, how can I check this?

I heard that the network card is deactivated going into battery mode.  Can I download the file to change the settings?

Thanks,

Paul

Is power management under the properties of the wireless card in device manager set to highest?

Thanks!  I got it working correctly by changing to highest.

Have Dell change the default to highest since everyone wants to connect to internet with battery only.
