Do you have the fax option in the Start/All Programs/Accessories/Communications? If you do it should be ready to work and no additional files/programs are needed as long as your dial-up modem is still working.
I am having a similar problem trying to install the win xp fax. I have an dell 9200 and have gone thru the motion of start, add-remove program, checking fax service, and then it tries to find the file "fxaspi.dll" and clicked "ok" but nothing happens. the I browse for the fild and it says it is in SP2 and but still cannot find it. Where is this hidden?
Same here. Cannot find on C;\i386 and cannot find on disk. So, am now shopping for a 4 in 1 printer which has the fax builtin. I give up trying to find it in WinXp.
Or, would the fxsapi.dll download from one of the websites on internet work? Or, would Microsoft have this as a download from their website? I am going over to their website to look now and if I find it, will post back here.
I gave up also. I called dell and they said it would cost 99.00 one time and they would fix the file. I already have a fax machine and I dont feel its worth 99.00 to fix the problem. The file should be on the disk and the fact that its not they should have the file on the website for people to download.
If you do not find the fax option in the location where Fireberd directed then you will need to load it through ADD/REMOVE programs. To do this go to START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS > ADD PROGRAM. On the left you will see an icon that says ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS a window will pop up and look in the list for Fax Services. Install this then set up your fax. You did not specify which printer you have so here is a search for
setting up fax
Been there, done that, still does not work. Cannot find the dll file it says it needs. Have tried various ways to get at that file and it is nowhere to be found.
Am going to try to find it thru Googling for it and see if there is a download from the internet and keep my fingers that it does not have virus/spyware/adware attached to it.
