Go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs>Add & Remove Windows Components and See if Faxing has been installed.  If it has been there will be a check mark next to it, if not then place one there and continue thru the wizard.

Do you have a telephone cord going from the modem to the jack in the wall?  I know it seems like a dumb question but let's get to the basics.

You must have a live telephone connection in order to FAX.  You can not FAX over the internet without the assistance of some third party services.  Grab the phone line and plug it in.

It will be the same phone number as you send from.  The FAX service will "Wake Up" when it detects an incoming FAX and store that FAX just like a word document so you can print it out.  You need to jump into the program and see what the settings are for storage location.  Personally, I would chnage thew default file location to something like: My Documents\Incoming Faxes or something similar so that it hgets backed when you do your regular backups.
