Can you tell us what operating system you are using. I'm assuming it's Windows XP. Also, who is your ISP and did they have you install any special software for their service.
FAX is a telephone line protocol, and uses your telephone line modem. It can not be sent via your cable modem. The 'e-fax' services are just places that receive your document via the internet and transfers it to the final recipient via FAX on a normal phone line.
Yes, my operating system is XP. Since my first e-mail, I found out from the cable company that my computer is trying to use the fax installed on the hard drive and is looking for an "e-fax" type program to send faxes via modem, rather than through the phone line. So, I just hooked up my phone line to the cpu and sent the faxes via phone line. I would prefer to send them via modem if that's possible without purchasing an "e-fax" type service that has a monthly/yearly fee associated with it.
Is the info the cable folks gave me correct? Thanks so much for your help!
