Feeling stupid, but...

I have a new Dell Latitude 10.  For some reason I thought I would be able to access wi-fi without installing anything that didn't come with it.  When I pull up my network settings, only Broadband and Airplane Mode show up.  I'm feeling a bit stupid as I thought since it has a wireless adapter in it, I would have some way of accessing wi-fi?  Is that not the case. What do I need to do/add so that I can access a wireless network (home and at work)?

I hope I did this right, Rick:

debbeyhester,

Did you install Windows 8 Pro 32-bit or did it come on the Latitude ST2?

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Oh, one more thing.  Where do I go to find the service tab number?  I'm used to seeing it on the back of a device, but this tablet doesnt have it listed there...at least not in a manner I recognize.  There is  a "CMIT ID".  Is that the same thing?

Found all kind of info by holding down the volume down button during startup.  In my device manager, I have a yellow triangle on Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network).  When I click on it, I have the following in the device status:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuation information in the registry is incomplete or damanged (Code 19).

Would that have anything to do with my wifi stuff or is this a different problem that I've stumbled upn?

I did. But now here is where I really feel stupid (and I'm not pc stupid...usually).  Without the wireless access, I can't get to the network.  There is no place to plug in an hdmi connection to my office network nor is there an ethernet port to plug in.  I do have a place to plug in my flash drive, but the installer wont copy/run from that.  So I'm stuck...

debbeyhester,

You found your service tag, went to Drivers and Downloads entered your service tag clicked on drivers and downloads, then clicked on your operating system?

Under network the drivers for your wireless device can be found there.

You can connect using the ethernet cable.

debbeyhester,

They are for your wireless adapter. If they did not install, in device manager, right click on the problem device, left click update driver. Tell it to look online first. If that doesn't work, then tell it to search your computer C:/

debbeyhester,

If you're under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support.

Update:  I found my service number, went to the drivers and download page, selected operating system and downloaded the three drivers.  Installed all three.

No wifi.  The only reference is network type  WiFi Not connected.  When I click on it, I only get the information on the adapter.  I have tried everything you and the web has suggested and I still can't get a network, or wifi to turn on.

I have no ethernet port to plug into.
