getting ready for the internet. Please help
Okay I just bought a used latitude cpt from a college student. The notebook was rarely used and has no internet connection. So what is my first step to obtaining a internet connection? I have SBC DSl in my dorm in which my PC is hooked up to. Please help!!

Get a router wich will "split" the connection for both mahcines to use.

Call SBC and they will walk you though the setup.
It should take about 5 minutes.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me with my first notebook...you all are very wonderful and I know I will be posting more questions even though it might not have anything to do with networking and internet "LOL"
So the big question for all of you. what is a good router to use for dsl and what brand of wireless card should I buy?

Linksys makes the best DSL router. linksys is a division of Cicso the world's leader in networking.
Another good brand is Netgear.
It should cost about $70.
