Going Wireless
I want to be able to connect my laptop anywhere in the house. My desktop is connected to a Westell Model 327W Router. Can I get my laptop to connect without connecting with a USB or Ethernet cable?

DiCon,
The Westell 327w has wireless capabilities. If you know your SSID and the password, then you should be able to connect with no problems. If you don't know this information, then contact the person that setup your network.

One thing I would like to add; the Westell 327w has gone through several updates over the last four years, but the original version gives folks using Dell wireless cards some trouble. Please refer to this: Cannot Establish Wireless Connection from Dell Computer to Westell 327W. The problem only affects Westell 327W modem/routers with the model number and software version stated in the document, so if yours doesn't match, you can forget about this.
Good luck!

Thanks Pudgyone, but I don't know what a SSID number is. Could you clarify that? And where do I find it?

DiCon,
When you or the person that sets up your wireless network, you can give the network a name or number. I noticed that when Comcast sets up their customers networks, they give them a number. My network has a name. This way when you try to connect, you can connect to your network, enter your password and then no one else can use your network.(Example: My network is called Virus_Farm) Would you want to try to connect to my network? I have it secured so no one can connect to it.
You usually have to setup your wireless router with an ethernet cable before you can connect. Then you have to power everything off for 30 seconds before you can connect wirelessly.
