Grandma needs help

Had DSL installed three days ago. Installer removed the phone wire which ran from the computer into the wall jack. When I went to use the fax, message was "no dial tone". This old grandma crawled around the floor, re-installing the phone wire into the computer and the other end into the phone jack in the wall.

Now, I receive the message "an eror occurred while sending the fax". I've called Dell who checked all my setting - they are ok, I've left messages for the DSL installer to call me back but no call yet. My question is this:  I have Dimension 2400 which has a fax modem.  When I go into configuring the modem, do I put in my home phone #? The next page asks for TSID (what do I type there) the next page is CSID (what gets put in there?

Prior to DSL I used CallWave for my faxes so I never had to worry about configuring the modem. THis is new too and I'm not sure what to do next.  Sometimes I wish for the "good old days".  Thanks for any help.

With the installation of DSL, in most installations filters are supplied to be used with the analog telephones.  You need a filter between the telco wall jack and your data/fax modem too for it to work correctly.

You can't plug the modem directly into the telco line, like you did before because of the DSL (digital) dta that is on there that will interfere with the modem operation.

However you had it configured before, just make sure you use the filter - connect one end of the filter to the telco wall jack and connect your modem (or telephone call router) to the other end of the filter. Nothing else changes for fax operation.
