hi, I thought I was the only one having this problem. i followed the exact same procedure. could some one please help I have a Dimension 2350-. The Resource CD is very confusing. After the installation process.
There is no "setup.exe" file in the WinXP folder. The entire path I looked in is "C:\dell\drivers\R64645\WinXP". There are 3 files, all of which are named "bcm4sbxp"...one is a security catalog, one is setup information, and the other is a system file.
You Just have to Place the Drivers CD and then Just Double Click on the Ethernet Controller or Network adapter Option, it might have a check mark in front of it...Just go ahead with the same steps..Then you will recieve a message "All the files were successfully installed." After that close every window and then look up for the SETUP.EXE file.
Then Run the file...There should be a SETUP.exe file if you still didn't find that file then just download the drivers from www.support.dell.com.
