Like what the TCP/IP settings are, what the network is connected to the internet through, what you have tried to make a fix, what messages you get, and any other info that would give us a clue.  I'm not trying to be snotty, but so far all you've said is "my computer doesn't work on the internet".  That leaves possibilities wide open....

OK, here is how my network is setup through our Windows XP machine:

Both Windows XP computers are working fine wirelessly, same with a Windows 98 laptop...im having problems with the Windows 98 desktop pc which contains the device below...

Network Mode: Infrastructure
Preamble Type: Auto
RTS Threshold: 2432

TCP/IP Properties for 802.11b USB 2.0 Wireless LAN Adapter
IP Address Tab: Obtain an IP Address automatically is checked
WINS Configuration Tab: Use DHCP for WINS Resolution
Gateway Tab: Didn't install any gateways since i have DHCP enabled

Also the cable modem ethernet cable goes to the WAN or Internet port on the wireless router.  All wired computers go to the LAN ports of the router.  Set all TCP/IP settings to obtain an IP address automatically.

Which make and model router do you have?  Are you sure the values you posted are correct?  Having an IP address that is the same as the gateway and DHCP server addresses is unusuall.

i meant that it was connected to the WAN port...the only computer wired to the router is the one that has the cable modem

Model Router is: Linksys WRT54G

that is what showed up in the WinIPCFG on the Windows 98 computer...i see something else that is different on both computers...on the Windows 98 computer the Node is Broadcast and on the Windows XP computers the Node is Hybrid...will this prevent internet access on the Windows 98 computer since they are different?

nevermind...i fixed it myself by downloading a free proxy server to connect to the internet...this shows that even though a wireless usb adapter or pci card says its only compatible with Windows 98SE, it is indeed compatible with Windows 98 FE if you got the right stuff to set it up...heres where i downloaded the free proxy server http://www.usr.com/products/wireless/wireless-shareware.asp ...i highly recommend this if there are other people on this forum who are having this problem
