double click that icon at the bottom that says aquiring network address. then click search for wireless networks. make sure your specificaly gets showed up. then double click on your network. it wil then auto connect to your network. if you keep getting disconnected the problem is still the drivers for that card. If you do keep getting disconnected let microsoft client run the intel card. if your using intel pro software to run the card right click the icon on the bottom near the clock on the intel pro icon. right click it and choose microsoft client to run card. hope this helps. Also disable your security settings on the laptop and router. disable firewalls. see if any of this helps. Everyone on this site is having problems wiht this 2200 series card

1) Do you have MAC Filtering Enabled on the Linksys Wireless Router? If yes you will have to manually put the MAC address of the wireless card on the Linksys Configuration Page.

2) Did you try using both the Intel Proset and the XP wireless configuration?

3) Is this a Secured Wireless network (Use of WEP/WPA)?

4) Download the latest drivers from the Intel Website as it is fixing most of the issue with Netgear and Linksys Routers.  Link for this is http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-010623.htm

5) Make sure your router has the latest firmware installed on it. Firmware upgrades can be downloaded from the linksys website for the specific model of router you have here.

6) If none of the above fix the issue, Try connecting this laptop to a different wireless network like a hotspot.

7) If still nogo, contact Dell and get it replaced with a different wireless card like Dell 1470 or 1370 wireless mini pci card which is a  Broadcom OEM make.
