Your service tag indicates that the computer shipped with Windows 2000.  If you are still running Windows 2000 on that machine the network card drivers can be downloaded from:

Steve, Thanks for your reply. I am using Win 2K and reinstalled the same. When i go and download the drives from the link you sent to me, it indicates that i need to do teh following
********************

Installing the CNet PRO200WL PCI Fast Ethernet Drivers for Windows 2000

Right click on the My My Network Places Icon

From the Network and Dial-up Connections Window Double-click on the Local Area Connection for the CNet NIC

********************************

However, I cannot see 'the Local Area Connection for the CNet NIC'. Is there a reason for this. Do I have to follow a certain procedure while installing drivers after the operation system is installed (as in audio drives first, chipset driver next....network driver next etc.). Do you think I need to reinstall the system again?

Thanks a lot!!

Did you try following the instructions at the bottom of the following page:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R25996&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8200&category=5&os=WNT5&osl=en&deviceid=599&devlib=5&fileid=27663

You might need to install the chipset drivers for your motherboard first.  Especially is there are other devices in Device Manager that show as problem devices.  The chipset drivers can be downloaded from:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8200&category=27&os=WNT5&osl=EN
