What kind of connection (cable/dsl/dialup)? If cable or dsl is it a USB connection or an ethernet connection? After installation of Windows, did you install the chipset drivers first, then install the drivers for all other devices?

If you didn't install the chipset drivers first, then Windows won't know whether or not all device drivers are properly installed. The chipset drivers are necessary before Windows can detect or install many other devices. If you don't know whether or not you installed the chipset drivers. Install them now. You may then have to go back and remove other devices, reboot and reinstall the drivers for these other devices. Sometimes that doesn't even work and you have to start all over, reinstalling Windows then installing the drivers in the correct order - chipset drivers before anything else.
Please answer the other question - What kind of connection (cable/dsl/dialup)? If cable or dsl is it a USB connection or an ethernet connection?

You haven't ever said which model computer you have, so I can't point you to the drivers. You can click on the link for Desktops or Laptops at the top of the Forum, select Downloads, then enter your model number or service tag to get you to all drivers for your system. The chipset drivers will be there.
