What kind of internet service do you have?  If it is cable, did you reset the network when changing the connection between a direct connection to a computer and a connection to a router?  If not, note that everytime you change the device connected to the modem you need to do a complete reset of the network. To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem (either the router or the computer), then turn on any other computers that will connect through the router.

Try this also:
On the laptop select start and then run. Type in cmd and hit enter. Then type in ipconfig /release and hit enter. Then type in ipconfig /renew. Hit enter. Tell us if the ip address will renew, If so close the window and try connecting again. Post the ip address here if not.

Actually Volcano11 can solve it if anybody can. But same problem don't mean same computer and router and such. I imagine he will want that information so you should post your system information and exact problem and I'm sure he can resolve it.

Monolo,

would be happy to help, but normally I don't respond to people who jump into someone else's thread because it gets too confusing trying to to help more than one person with problems, even if they are similar.  So, you need to post the infromation dbramlet has requested and start a new thread.   This is also being considerate to the person who originally started the thread.
