Help ... NIC hardware question on Optiplex GX400
Questions:
- I am wanting to upgrade to DSL but I have been told that my computer needs to have an ethernet card. I have a NIC card on my motherboard but I do not know if that is the same as an ethernet card. Below is the motherboard description and the
PROCESSOR, 80528, 1.8GHZ, OK, 400, SOCKET W, D0
PRINTED WIRING ASSY, PLANAR (MOTHERBOARD), ASTRO, NETWORK INTERFACE CARD/CONTROLLERS, 4RIMM, 1.9G+ - Will I need to connect something to the motherboard and if so what is the process?
- Will I still be able to network my computers together later?
Thanks in advance,
Linda

Your NIC is an ethernet card. You will see what looks to be a very large "telephone cord hole" on the back your your GX400. This is where the cable from your DSL Modem/Router will connect you. As for networking later on...all you will need to do is attach a router between your PC and the DSL Modem (unless you are getting a DSL Router allready!)
