sounds like your laptop didn't come with a BT card so I suggest you visually check to ascertain that it's actually there.

If you had bluetooth it would be listed in device manager under bluetooth devices.

Reinstall the driver again. If you installed the driver but did not remove the previous one first the update will uninstall the previous driver. Then you need to run the update again and allow the updated driver to install.

Just got a D620. Took the Dell 355 module out of my old D510 (where it worked flawlessly), installed it in the D620, and Device manager doesn't even pick it up. I have done all I know for two days. Any suggestions???

Make sure the Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS.

Hello anyone who can help, I have been having difficulty using bluetooth from the beginning. I purchased an Inspiron 9400 with bluetooth. I am having a difficult time getting it to set up and hotsynch. It can sometimes pick up my palm one and other times it doesn't even notice it. I contacted Dell today with regards to it and the gentleman was unable to help me (out of his expertise. I have set up both the bluetooth on both laptop and palm one a few times, but when i try to hotsynch, I get the error "unable to initiate hotsync operation because the port is in use by another application". Someone please help. It is really frustrating having a piece of hardware that is not being used, especially when you really want to make use of it. Thanks

I think i have a similar problem with my E1405. I updated my OS from vista home basic to vist ultimate then suddenly my bluetooth is not working anymore. It was fine when i was still using vista home basic so i have no idea what happened. I've tried installing drivers that I have downloaded but it still won't work. The system just says that it can't find any bluetooth hardware connected to the laptop. please help me!
