Can other computers on your network that are connecting through the router still connect to the intneret whne your E1705 cannot?  Does the 1706 connect to the internet by a wired ethrent connection?  Has the 1705 ever been able to connect wirelessly?

The first thing one should always do in troubleshooting problems like this is to reset the network.  Turn everything off, wait about 5 mintues, turn on the modem first, wait antoher 5minutes, turn on the device that is directly connected to the modem, then turn on the other computers.  If you do this procedure, does the E1705 have a wireless connection.  Another step you can take to troublehsooting this problem is to  go to Start > Ru

n and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

This must be run on the computer that is having the problems.  Get real with the IP address.  The internet would not work if every internet site did not know your ip address.  Besides, you are behind a router and the ip address would only be local anyway.  My point is that anyone that wants to can know your ip address everytime you visit an intenret site, so not showing it is not protecting you in anyway and in fact, without it, I cannot help diagnose your problem.  Still, you can leave off the last three numbers if you wish, but I need to see the first 9 numbers or can't help you.

I had the SAME EXACT problem, I've been trying to solve it all day and I just gave up and looked for help on the forums now lol.

Caught this post and following Steve's advice, I tried disconnecting my Modem and Router, and restarting my computer, waited for 5 minutes, reconnected Modem, then Router, then turned on the wireless on my computer, and now it works great! I definitely had my doubts at first, but try it! :D

Thanks Steve :)

uchicha99,

Your wireless card is using a static IP address which probably won't work.  To fix this, open Network Connections, right click your wireless connection, and select Properties from the drop-down menu.  In the window that opens, find the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), select it, then click on the Properties button.   Put a check mark in the box next to "Obtain ip address automatically" and, if necessary, put a check mark in the box next to "Obtain DSN server address automatically".  OK your way out and see if your connection now works.
