Help! Slow Download Rate

I just bought an Inspiron 9300 and I have to say I am very happy with it except for one thing: the download rate is 50kb/sec. The desktop I used to have downloaded at 600kb/sec. Is this normal or is there any way I can fix it? If anybody knows how can you please explain it to me?
Thanks,
Xyro

i have the 9300 and i can almost hit 1mb a sec on a download. i would check your resources. also make sure you scan disk hdd and then do a defrag to put files and stuff in order. resources is the icons near the clock. items u dont need get rid of. once all that is done try redownloading something. Also the download speed depends on the site u downloading from. There might be a ton of traffic or noise on the lines.

All I have on my taskbar are some regular things. Nothing else except my security. Also, when I download from any site it's slow like that? Do you think it might be something to do with my power options? Or maybe it's because I'm working off a wireless card?

Go to dslreports.com. run the tweak test. Get the tweak utility and make the recommended changes. See if that helps.
