Have you tried power-cycling the router (turn it off for a minute, then turn it back on) to see if that retores your connection. If not, then to help troubleshoot this problem, on the computer with the problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.
Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. I have not tried the power off/on yet. I will try that this Saturday when I don't have the system by myself (husband at work).
I have done the run > cmd > ipconfig/all, and it showed me that:
I see that there are plenty of people out there having the same problems. Can't connect to the internet via a wireless router.
As I stated the first time, I was getting the internet just fine, then one day a couple of weeks ago, I would try to get into the internet using IE or Firefox but I would get an error that it couldn't connect. I have tried alot of things and can't get it figured out. I even tried an update that someone suggested to someone else having the same problem. Nothing!
It seems to me with all the people having basically the same problem, that it could be something with the Dell product? I don't know, it's just a thought. We have had several Dell computers over the years and have never had any problems with them. It's only been since I got my Ispiron 1501. I've had it a year and all of a sudden it starts having problems (with the internet connection only).
I wish that someone had the answer to this big problem. Is there an answer out there? :smileysad:

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. I have not tried the power off/on yet. I will try that this Saturday when I don't have the system by myself (husband at work).
I have done the run > cmd > ipconfig/all, and it showed me that:
Window IP Configuration
Host Name............................. = ********-PC
Primary Dns Suffix................... =
Node Type............................. = Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled .................. = No
WINS Proxy Enabled................. = No
Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection =
Media State.......................... = Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix. =
Dexcription........................... = Dell Wirelexx 1390 WLAN Mini-Card
Physical Address.................... = 00-19-7E-42-17-FC
DHCP Enabled ....................... = Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled........ = Yes
Those are the two main ones. The others (headers are:):
Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Media disconnected
Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7: Media disconnected
Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 9: Media disconnected
Does this tell you anything?
Thanks for replying so quickly. I really want to get back online with my own computer asap.
Take care,
Chris
