Help with LinkSys
Hi,
I need help with my LinkSys BEFW11S4 router. It is a 2.4GHz or 802.11b Wireless-B Broadband Router with 4 Ethernet ports. I decided to turn to the Dell Forums because LinkSys doesn't seem to be much help. But anyways, I want to know how I can disable the firewall on the router. I can't create my own servers for many online games, however I can play LAN. I also can't talk with other people on AIM with a microphone. I also can't direct connect sometimes on AIM because of this router. How do I disable it and will it be safe? If it isn't safe, is there a way I can create servers or do the other things listed without disable the firewall? Thanks in advance for your help!

As soon as you disable any firewall or open any ports, it is no longer safe. For this reason, most manufacturers will not provide support for these functions of the router, and leave you on your own to figure out how to do it. See your router user guide for help on port forwarding (to open specific ports) or the DMZ, to completely open the router for a specific computer on your network.
