on accessories then on Command Prompt ,Just type in sfc
in the Command Prompt display.
Then after that comes up with the information type in sfc/scannow
and let it checkyour files for errors.
This works for windowsxp, hope this helps

Try putting a space between the "c" and the "/" i.e. sfc /scannow, not sfc/scannow
What about the error report?
