Home Network Loss and Internet Access

About a week ago I setup my insiron 1200 laptop which is in my upstairs bedroom and my dimension 1100 in the living room. The purpose was to be able to work in either computer. After a storm here, I can no longer get access to the internet on my laptop. Was wondering what could I do to fix this problem. I'm using a linksys router and on my laptop dell wireless card. Also can send emails from the laptop either. What can I do to correct this problem? My desktop is find and give me no problems accept I can get into the laptop from downstairs. Help!!!!!
