How do I disable Dell wireless configuration software?
I recently switched from AT&T wireless internet access to AT&T U-verse.
Every time I boot up I have to go through lots of changes (disable preferred network) and enter my wireless network ID. The U-verse technical support person I spoke to said that this is a known issue but that I'd have to contact Dell for help. After an excruciating hour with Dell technical support I was finally told they may be able to help me but I'd have to pay for the help. I'm not sure why U-verse didn't let me know about the problem when I bought it or why the person who installed U-verse didn't forewarn me or why they didn't take responsibility for fixing it, but I digress.
I did find an eHow article on how to disable the Dell wireless configuration software but step one is: Open the "Start" menu and select "All Programs," followed by "Dell Controlpoint.". Guess what? I don't have a "Dell Controlpoint" option when I select "All Programs". I just have Dell Accessories/Dell RecourcCD and Modem On Hold. I also found a Dell Solution Center but that didn't help me. I'm not really technical but, if there's a God, there must be an easy way to do this. Can anyone help?

zurbar,
Without the make and model of your computer and operating system, this will be vague.
Some people have had sucess with uninstalling any Dell connection software and allowing Windows to manage the connection.
How can I disable wireless configuration services and enable the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration services
How to start Wireless Zero Configuration using Windows Vista

Rick,
You are my hero. I clicked the link you provided and then "fix it for me" (I have an Inspiron 8500 with XP, BTW) and, guess what? My problem is fixed and I couldn't be happier. You are a genius and I love you!!!!!
