how do I file and print share?

I have a wireless network setup between my Dell 8300 desktop and my Dell 9300 notebook.
I am using a Netgear wireless router and broadband cable connection.
I've tried through the "network setup wizard" to set up file sharing, but I am not able see these files on my notebook.
Am I able to do this, and if so, What I'm I doing wrong?

Thanks,

You might want to try setting things up manually using the networking tutorial at www.homenethelp.com.  Setting things up manually rather than using the network wizards has several adavantages, one being that you will become familiar with the the various settings so that you will be able to troubleshoot when things aren't working and the other being that the wizard depends on your ability to answer the questions it asks.  If you provide one wrong answer, the wizard won't set up the network correctly.

The most common problem with getting file and printer sharing to work is usually due to blockage by firewalls.  On any computer running Windows XP with SP1, disable the Windows XP firewall. It will not allow File and Printer Sharing. On computers running Windows XP with SP2, make sure that the Windows XP firewall has File and Printer Sharing checked off on the Exceptions tab. If you are running any third party firewalls, like those provided by such programs as Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security, or McAfee Security Center, make sure they are configured to allow local network traffic.
