Normally this is how they work. Once you enter the WPA key, it is stored along with connection information in the "Preferred Networks" in the Wireless Connection Properties.

You can manually remove it everytime but that is a tedious process.

If you are concerned with other systems accessing your router, you can rest assure that they will need the key before they can connect. Only this system will connect automatically.
