How do I turn networking off?

Question

I’m aware asking this is going to make me look like an idiot but rather that than it keep driving me crazy because I cant find the answer, or leave me working on a laptop on someone else’s connection. At least it should give someone a laugh. I have a desk top running windows XP which seems to think it is part of a network which it isn’t. I tried using the XP help and also returning it to what was supposed to be factory condition but it still thinks its part of a network So of cause I get the dreaded network cable unplugged every now and then when I try to set up and connect to my broadband connection using an ethernet cable. Does anyone know how I can get it back to normal turn off networking all the help forums I have looked at are about setting up a network I just want to know how to turn it off.

If you are connected to the internet, then you are connected to a network whether you like it or not. Steve

Thanks Steve I guess I am but my computer thinks it is part of a home network which it isnt I have enough issues with stand alone ones thanks. :smileysad:
