You can download your 'User Guide' from the "Notebooks^" menu at top left of this page.

It is usually (on Dell Portables), Hold the [Fn] key down and press [F2] to toggle WiFi on/off.

I have never used the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" option ..."
and it works great.

Also look in Device Manager 'WiFi' Properties; Power Management, to un-check any "turn this
device off to save power" (may be also in USB Hub of DM).

By the way, I checked Wireless card in Devices, it shows "This device is working properly.". And right-clicked on the Wireless Network Connection, it shows it has been enabled. So WiFi should be working, but it is not. The WiFi light on the laptop is not on.

And something is very strange. On the Wireless Network Connection Properties page, under the Wireless Network tab, the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" option is unchecked. If I check it and click "OK" to save and exit out. Then when I go back to this page, the option is still unchecked. Why???

Please help.

Thanks for the reply. However, it did not resolve my problem. For the Latitude D410, the fn-F2 combination is to enable/disable bluetooth, not WiFi. There is nothing on the keyboard that is for WiFi.

In Device Manager, on the Properties page for the Dell Wireless card, if I select the Advanced tab, there is list of features, including minimum power management which shows enabled. No specific mention of WiFi. All 802.11b/g settings are on.

If I check the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" option, I can see all available wireless network. I just cannot connect.

This is not making sense and I am pulling my hair on this. Has anyone seen this before?

if you have not managed to enable your wi-fi let me suggest a couple of things

1. check in the network conexions window whether the wireless adapter appears enabled or disabled - if disabled try to enable it manually right-clicking on the icon

2. some of the power quiset preset settings turn off wi-fi when the laptop in on battery power - choose another setting
