This is exactly the problem I am having, and it is really annoying....

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Is Windows managing the wireless connection or is the utility that came with the wireless network adapter managing the connection?  Some utilities require that a user log on before the network is available.  Windows wireless zero configuration will connect before a user logs in.  Could this be the problem?

The utility that came with the wireless network adapter is doing the managing (Intel PROSet/Wireless). I have had it actually maintain a connection a couple of times which was a surprise, but that's out of the ordinary.

Try letting Windows manage the connection and see if that fixes the problem.

Sorry to be a bit slow on the uptake here.......

I'm still having the same problem, so how do I get Windows to manage the connection for me?

Thanks Julzie.  I've just tried it, and the problem is still the same.  I can switch to the other User and don't lose the conncection, but when I switch back again, the connection is lost.

OK, go into your wireless connection by clicking on "Connections" or alternately, "Connect To" and then click on "Wireless Network Connection". When the window comes up, go to the second tab, which is "Wireless Networks"... then click on the top check box: "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings".
