How to secure my wireless network

I have True Mobile 2350 broadband router and when I enable wireless security I can't reach internet. I tried with WEP and WPA but didn't get connected. When I don't enable the security its no problem to connect to my router. What kind of keys is it nessesary? I tried with mixed both digits and letters and of cource I fill the same key in the router settings and in the computer which I connect wireless but it doesn't work. Can someone give me a hint?

thanks

Are you power cycling your network after setting the security encryption? After setting your encryption code on the router and computer, shut everything down. Wait 5 minutes, then power on the Cable/DSL modem. Wait 1 minute, then power on the router. Wait 1 minute, then turn on your computer.

See if that enables the security encryption?

It also could be that your computer's MAC address is not recognized by your router.

when you have security enabled can you access the router? if you cannot this would indicate that there is a problem with the computer talking to the router....if you can.... also make sure that your firewall is set up to allow the network...
make sure that the computer and the router are set to the same security WEP or WPA....

which brand of router and NIC are you using....

your router should have a save/reboot function in the setup, this should take about 1 mintue to reboot...

you should also go read your router manual to see how to do it on your specific router
