how to set up internet

Question

i recently bought a dell xps m140 notebook. i get a bubble that tells me that i have a wireless connection, but i can't seem to get the internet to work? how do i get internet on my notebook? i tried connecting my pc's cable cord to the notebook, but that didn't work.   someone please help :smileysad:   thanks a lot!   k student

What kind of internet connection do you have?  Do you have a wireless router connected to this internet connection?   Steve

yes, i have a router connected to my pc. i have comcast cable. and router is.... linksys?

To help troubleshoot this problem, on the laptop computer go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.
