how to stop internet connection....
i'd like to know how to shut down, and subsequently turn back on, internet connection within my wireless network.
my info:
windows xp home, dlink router, motorola surfboard cable modem
i'd like to be able to shut off and turn back on internet connections (both wired and wireless capabilities) from all computers within the network without having to physically turning off/unplugging the cable modem and router. is there a way i can do this within the router menu (192.168.0.1)? can i do this using a laptop connected wirelessly to the router?
thanks.

sdnoobs,
You don't say which model of D-Link router you have, but you should be able to use the router's configurator to Release the current IP address, effectively disconnecting you from your ISP. Use Renew to acquire a new IP address and reconnect to the ISP. You should find this on the router's Status tab.

Did you try Johnallg's suggestion of restricting the time that connections are allowed?

unfortunately the suggestions didnt work. the router would renew its ip after reboot, even after i released it. changing the settings to something other than static ip or even pppoe didnt work either. any other ideas?
