I 2650 Modem Help

Hi I have a Inspiron 2650 with a Actiontec MD56ORD V92MDC Modem and I had to reinstall the Operating system after a crash and the modem worked fine before but not i can not get it to dial out. In the device manager it showes the modem and it communicates with it fine but when you go to add a new network connection it does not have a dial up via moden listed it is blanked out. The com ports under device manager also does not show it. But the modem properties showes it useing COM3. If any one could please help me with this.

PS It will work if i connect a LAN connection for cable internet to it.

I have the same llaptop computer:  I 2650 and can't get the modem to initialize!  The modem is detected, enabled, on com 3, and says it's working fine, but it just won't dial out!  I have no trouble at all with DSL connection or my wireless.  Does anybody have any ideas??

Also, it was suggested that I get a PC Card Modem, can someone explain what this is and will this help?

Thanks for the reply.  So, then did you reinstall the SP2??  Is there a way to see if the same thing happened to me?  Do you know how I can check to see if I even have SP2 installed at all?   This is a new laptop to me and I don't know that much about it.
