I need some serious help!!

Question

I recently moved in with my girlfriend and found that her Dell Dimension Desktop 2400 was slow alittle, so i defragged and did some disk scans and even cleaned the disk with Disk Cleanup (had over 1GB of files in temp files alone!!) But for some reason it still lagged.  I did a virus scan and that didnt work either, so what i did was a final solution.  I reinstalled Windows XP Home.  Now mind you, she does not have a single CD for chipset or ethernet drivers because she had never received them in the mail, i know for a fact because i ordered the PC for her.  So when i booted up, first thing i tried to do was get the internet up.  Then i realized the ethernet controller wasnt recognized. Then i realized that the modem also wasnt recognized; this is my problem.  Right now I'm using a six year old laptop to convey my call for help because i really need to know what to do here, i need some sort of way to get the ethernet controller to get recognized.  Now I also have no Floppy drive on either PC, and there is no CDRW drive on the laptop.  I'm in an extreme bind here, someone please help.

Here is the driver download page for the 2400.

But if you can't download to the 2400 or burn from the laptop you may have to contact Dell to request a drivers disk.

The reinstall CD and Reource CD's for the 2400 systems were shipped with the systems, nothing would have come in the mail.
