Did you try using Device Manager and Uninstall the network adapter, then re-boot to let Windows re-discover it?
Make sure you have no hard-coded TCP/IP address. It should be only 'Use DHCP to assign TCP/IP address automatically'
Some DellTalk threads have suggested running 'WinsockFix' (which I myself have never tried).
just wanted to thank the both of you for the suggestions, after exhausting all efforts on Dell help i printed out the Windows help on Microsoft for Page Cant Be Displayed and the last item on the list actually did the trick - System Restore - i would've tried this first if i knew about it but im guessing its not the best way to fix the problem - anyway all is back to normal and thanks again for taking the time...
